IT is with deep regret that the Moffatview Community Police Forum (CPF) and related sector crime forums learnt of the death of one of our patrollers and a security officer on Thursday, July 23.
In the course of their service to The Hill community, they were gunned down by criminals who consider human life a cheap commodity.
The criminals in Johannesburg must be brought to book and we call on the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) to apprehend these criminals and do all in their power to ensure that communities live in safety.
Thank you to all the Moffatview CPF patrollers who assisted in securing the crime scene for SAPS, we are in your debt.
In memory of our fallen friends and due to the circumstances, the Moffatview CPF election on Thursday, July 23, was postponed.
The current Moffatview CPF executive will meet and arrange a new election date, which will be communicated in due course.
Our sincerest condolences to the two families who lost their loved ones in such a senseless crime.
**The funeral for Anthony Bester, The Hill Patroller, who gave his life for his community, will be held on Thursday July 30 at 10:00 at Saint Patrick’s Church, 5th Street, La Rochelle.
