My heart is with Moyo’s family

The contractor together with the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) will speed up this process.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – I would like to convey my condolences to Mrs Patience Moyo, wife of the deceased Mr Dumisani Moyo.

The horror I witnessed when I arrived at the accident scene looked like something out of a movie.

I met Mr Thabani Nyoni, a co-worker of the deceased, who could not contain his tears for the loss of his dear colleague. They had been working together for the past six years and Thabani explained to me what a good father, friend and provider Dumisani had been. I accompanied Thabani to the deceased’s home in Eikenhof to deliver the sad news to the family.

I have spoken with the main contractor for the South Hills development about placing speed bumps on that road. The contractor together with the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) will speed up this process.

My concern is why there was not speed bumps in place a long time ago? It is not the first time that fatal accidents like this occurred on that very same corner. How many lives must be lost before something will be done? I will work together with JRA and the contractor to speed up the process for placing speed bumps on that road and to reduce the speed limit to 40km per hour.
