Our NPOs are in dire need

We receive appeals on a daily basis for donations - blankets, non-perishable foods, warm clothing (especially for boys of all ages), baby formula, and the list goes on.

When we snuggle in front of our gas heaters with a cup of hot chocolate on these cold winter nights, do we take a minute to give a thought to those braving the cold without shelter?

When we enjoy wonderful cosy family gatherings with hot meals, do we ever wonder from where many will get their next meal?

And then comes the morning, when people rush to nearby Pick n Pay stores, to lay their hands on super specials, and you realise that more and more people are falling on hard times.

It is thoughts and moments like this which, again and again, make one realise that if the normal man on the street suffers, how much more our state pensioners and our NPOs, who are under extreme pressure to keep on providing for the needs of those less fortunate, must be battling.

We receive appeals on a daily basis for donations – blankets, non-perishable foods, warm clothing (especially for boys of all ages), baby formula, and the list goes on.

Today my appeal goes out to those of us who have goods to share to do so. I hope that we will open our hearts and give as generously as we possibly can to help relieve the burden of those in need.

In the distribution area of our newspapers we have a number of NPOs and we are appealing to our community to reach out to these organisations and given them the assistance they need.

Should you wish to help, or if you need more information about these organisations, feel free to contact our office on 011 724 7000 or drop us an e-mail at cvdwalt@caxton.co.za and we will gladly assist with background information and contact details.
