SAPS keep streets safe for Youth Day

A pre-celebration by members of the South African Police Services in Rosettenville.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – In order to celebrate Youth Day and show their dedication to the community, the Moffatview SAPS held a roadblock in Rosettenville to make sure vehicles were not a danger to passengers and pedestrians.

The roadblock, held on Friday June 12, was a joint operation by the Moffatview SAPS‘ Women’s Network, Social Crime Unit, communications department, sector managers, the CPF and JMPD officers, who stopped and searched 56 vehicles and issued two traffic fines to motorists driving without a driver’s license.

Some of the officers wore school uniforms to celebrate Youth Day in advance.

“We are stopping and searching the vehicles here in Rosettenville, corner Gerenium Road and Prare Road, because this is a very busy intersection. A lot can happen here so we are happy to help keep the order,” said Moffatview communications officer, Constable Rebecca Bila.
