This is an excellent opportunity for serious hikers to test their fitness against challenging trails.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve Association will be holding their annual Long Walk on Sunday, May 24.

This is an excellent opportunity for serious hikers to test their fitness against challenging trails at the nature reserve. Apart from the strenuous side of the walk, hikers will also be able to enjoy all the other aspects which this beautiful reserve has to offer. The total distance is approximately 20 kilometers.

For those hikers who do not wish to walk the entire distance, ‘escape’ facilities will be offered at various stages along the trails. Water will be supplied at two points along the trail. It is recommended that hikers start with at least two litres of water, together with any food that they may require. There will be a briefing before the walk and each participant will be issued with a map of all the trails in the reserve.

KNRA guides will be available at strategic points along the trail to ensure that hikers are safe. They will also offer assistance where necessary. So if you like a challenge, make sure that you are at the Klipriviersberg Recreational Centre, Peggy Vera Road, Kibler Park on the day. You can meet other hikers outside the Steel Wings Grill.

Registration for the walk is from 08:00 to 09:00 and once registered, participants can start immediately. A donation of R30.00 per person or R60.00 per family of two adults and two children will be appreciated.

Breakfast and lunch will be offered by the Steel Wings Grill.
