Collision on the R59

Two people were trapped inside and Fire and Rescue Services used the Jaws of Life to extricate the occupants from the vehicle.

SEVERAL people were injured in a collision between two vehicles on the R59 Kliprivier Road, on Sunday morning, May 10.

When ER24 paramedics and other emergency services arrived on scene, they found a heavily damaged vehicle on the side of the road. Two people were trapped inside and Fire and Rescue Services used the Jaws of Life to extricate the occupants from the vehicle. The driver sustained critical injuries and the passenger had moderate injuries. Both men are believed to be in their 20s.

The other vehicle was several metres away, on the side of the road. One man, believed to be in his 30s, was assessed and treated for minor injuries. The other occupants in this vehicle were treated and transported to local hospitals for further medical care.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown and authorities are investigating.
