Dumping of Shoprite flyers angers residents

Distributors accused of dumping leftover material in Southern suburbs

BLATANT disregard for the community’s right to a clean suburb angered a Kibler Park resident after she spotted Shoprite Checkers advertising material dumped in Kibler Park.

Residents have also been complaining on the Kibler Park and Walkerville social media platform about public dumping at the public park opposite Spar, calling it “out of control”.

Marjorie van Schalkwyk took to Twitter to notify Shoprite Checkers of the illegal dumping of their flyers near Branksome Heights Street,

and demanded to know who was responsible.

Shoprite Checkers promptly answered her, committing to an investigation into the matter.

@ShopriteSouthAfrica said: “Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please would you send us more details like the location and your

contact number and we will be in touch to investigate.”

@Checkers said: “Thanks for your feedback, but we do not dump advertising material and we will investigate which supplier is guilty of this.”

Another resident revealed to the CHRONICLE that this blatant pollution through illegal dumping is something that happens every now and then in various suburbs.

Marjorie sent a photo taken at the scene of the illegal dumping to alert other residents of what is happening in and around Kibler Park.
