Reuven Senior Complex in shocking state

LOCAL DA Councillor Cllr Tyrell Meyers, Shadow MMC for Housing, Cllr Sipho Ndlela and MP for Joburg South, Manny de Freitas, conducted a surprise unannounced visit to Reuven Seniors Complex in Turffontein.

“I could not believe how this complex has deteriorated,” exclaimed Manny de Freitas. He said that it was clear that officials working at the complex as well as those who are supposed to supply services at the complex are not doing even their basic work.

“The general condition and maintenance at this complex is non-existent, and clearly the grass has not been cut for months,” he explained.

In addition, there is clear evidence of corrupt and illegal activities taking place at this complex. “We reported this to Cllr Sipho Ndlela, who will be taking this up,” explained Cllr Meyers.

De Freitas said that there is evidence of bribes being paid for people to jump the queue and be allocated units as well as illegal construction at units.

De Freitas said that they would not let this lie as the people suffering are the senior citizens at Reuven Senior Complex.
