Math boost for learners at Southgate

Southgate Mall’s CEO Mr Wiley Quin said he is very happy for this opportunity, and he hopes more learners will be helped through this initiative.

SOUTHGATE Mall and Pareto Limited launched NuMiracle Math Learning Centre on April 1.

NuMiracle is a corporate social investment (CSI) by Pareto Limited. It is an investment in community upliftment through actively addressing and improving numeracy levels in selected schools, and particularly in previously disadvantaged communities near selected Pareto shopping centres.

The CEO of Pareto Limited, Mr Marius Muller, said they are doing this because they want to. “We decided to focus on maths because it opens gateways for other opportunities. This is close to my heart, especially the upliftment of women and young girls. Thank you to those who contributed to the success of this initiative. Thirty-six children will be assisted in this lab, and when they graduated, we will know that we’ve done our part. This is not about return on investment (ROI), but about growing the potential and maximising it,” he explained.

Southgate Mall’s CEO Mr Wiley Quin said he is very happy for this opportunity, and he hopes more learners will be helped through this initiative.

The deputy regional director of the HOD on behalf of the Regional director of HOD Gauteng, Mr Boy Ngobeni, Criselda Makhubela welcomed the initiative. “I’m very excited about this because it is in line with our programmes. We can do this in partnership, as stalwart Ahmed Kathrada once said: ‘With democracy comes responsibility’. Also the MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi said our youth will not queue for social grants and RDP houses, because they will have brains to work for them,” she noted.

For now only black learners in grade 8 from Letsibogo and Letare secondary schools will be invited to apply to attend the NuMiracle programme.

The parents/guardian will be required to submit the learner’s birth certificate, latest school report, a signed indemnity form and a fully completed application form to matias@numiracle.co.za or Matias Ncube on 076 595 9350.
