Taxi collision leaves 17 injured

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – On Sunday evening March 22, 17 people were left injured when a taxi rolled several times on the M1 near the Xavier off-ramp in the South of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the taxi resting against a palisade fence which ran along the highway.

A statement from Crisis Communicator Russel Meiring said: “Seventeen people from the taxi lay scattered around the scene, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately no one had sustained any fatal or serious injuries in the collision.”

Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and transported them to various facilities, including Helen Joseph and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for further observations.

The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
