As the season for clubs in the South is about to begin with league matches, pre-season warm-up matches are the order of the day.

AS the season for clubs in the South is about to begin with league matches, the weekends are filled with pre-season tournaments.

Mondeor Meteors Football club took part in some of these tournaments and held their own.

Old Parks FC hosted their annual six-a-side tournament, which the club’s under eight team entered on Friday March 20. The team enjoyed a fun experience with only one loss.

The Alberton tournament is where our teams truly shone, with the u.11 teams taking first and second place and Mondeor Meteors FC player, Siphosethu Gwaxule was named Player of the Tournament.

The u.17 team topped off the sporting weekend with a superb win in their division.

These tournaments are vital in the preparation for the season ahead. Coaches can assess the players in a real game situation, and make the necessary changes to their strategy and team formation.
