IN a hard fought match FNB UJ went down at the hands of FNB UP-Tuks on Monday March 16 on their home soil.

The local side from Johannesburg went down 0-34 to their counterparts from Pretoria.

Monday night Varsity Cup continued at the various universities throughout South Africa and the spectators were treated to exciting rugby that only students can dish up.

All credit must go to UJ for never giving up and coming up with plans throughout the match, but that didn’t stop the flood of points going through on the side of Tukkies. UJ formed a formidable defence pattern to stop the inspired side from Pretoria in the first half.

A stronger Tuks side came out in the second half to claim a well deserved victory over a stubborn UJ side.

The bonus point victory cemented Tuks’ spot on top of table – albeit by points difference – as well as securing a home semi -final, after failing to reach the knock-out phase in 2014.
