Right place, right time: Good Samaritan comes to the rescue in Bassonia

A boy came too close for comfort to seeing his grandmother shot during a road rage incident in Bassonia.

BASSONIA – A road rage incident had a Glenvista woman fearing for her life, her grandson’s and a Good Samaritan who intervened in a nasty confrontation on Mount Pellan Road.

The incident took place in January and the Bassonia resident approached the CHRONICLE with the story on March 6, hoping that she could send a big thank you to the man who possibly saved her life.

“I was coming down Hythe Avenue in Glenvista at 07:15, taking my grandson to school, when I noticed a man in a black BMW following me. The man was driving recklessly, following at close range and nearly bumped me when he just overtook me hastily. I hooted at him and the next thing the man made a dead stop on Mount Pellan Road, got out of his car and started shouting at me,” said the resident.

The confrontation became heated as the angry man proceeded to attack her verbally at close range.

“Traffic was backed up, because we were blocking the road during the confrontation. Then a man who was also on his way to drop off his child at Marist Brothers stopped to help me.

“The man driving the black BMW then went to his car and took out a gun, cocked it and threatened me and the man who was helping me. I screamed and told the other man (the Good Samaritan) that the man had a gun and he said, don’t worry m’am, I’ve also got a gun,” explained the concerned resident.

When the raging BMW driver heard this, he allegedly went back to his vehicle and drove off, leaving the woman relieved and thankful for the Good Samaritan’s intervention.
