Dowayne Combrink will take a big step towards another title attempt when he takes a crack at the WBA Pan African middleweight title.

Dowayne Combrink will take a big step towards another title attempt when he takes a crack at the WBA Pan African middleweight title in a few days.

Combrink, who hails from Alberton, will be one of the undercards in the much anticipated Stand and Deliver boxing tournament, where Tommie Oosthuizen and Ryno Liebenberg will stand face to face in the ring.

The sold-out banquet takes place on Saturday March 14 at Emperors Palace and is presented by Golden Gloves promotions.

Boxing will start at 19:00.

Billed by promoter Rodney Berman as a fight that will rival previous great grudge fights, like those between Gerrie Coetzee and Kallie Knoetze, Pierre Coetzer and Johnny du Plooy and Cassius Baloyi and Phillip Ndou, Oosthuizen will take on Liebenberg for the IBO light-heavyweight title in the Stand and Deliver box-and-dine tournament.

Combrink will also take his long-awaited shot at a superior title, WBA, when he takes on Giovanni Bushby from the Eastern Cape. The bout will take place over 12 rounds. The local orthodox boxer record currently reads won 11 (KO 7) + lost 1 (KO 0) + drawn 0 = 12

rounds boxed 50 KO% 58.33.

In the other undercards of the evening Ashley Dlamini takes on Jasper Seroka for the SA junior-lightweight title. Thompson Mokwana fights Richard Commey from Ghana for the Commonwealth lightweight title.
