NATURENA – At least 15 people were injured this morning, March 3, after two taxis collided at the Golden Highway and Main Road intersection in Naturena.

ER24 paramedics from the Johannesburg South branch arrived on scene and found the two wrecked taxis lying in the middle of the intersection. Pieces of the taxis were spread all across the scene.

Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson, said on inspection paramedics found at least 15 people sitting in the taxis and lying on the nearby pavement, being tended to by members of the public, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

“Paramedics set up a staging area and set out treating the patients for their injuries. Once treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals for further medical care.

“It is understood that one of the taxis had apparently skipped a red traffic light, causing the incident. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” said Meiring.
