Overgrown grass causes car accidents

Long and overgrown grass is causing havoc on roads in the South

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – After an accident that happened at the intersection of Gordon Road and Main Road in Kibler Park, DA Ward 125 PR Councillor Peter Stewart blamed the accident on the long and overgrown grass.

“These accidents are a regular occurrence recently on all the streets and roads intersections in our ward, and can be subscribed to the fact that the grass on the provincial roads have not been cut, which makes it very difficult for drivers to see oncoming traffic.

“Once more, I plead with the authorities to take responsibility in maintaining the grass cutting on these roads to prevent these horrible scenes and the unnecessary injuries and loss of life,” he said.

Meanwhile DA 124 PR Councillor Tyrell Meyers, who has been concerned about the uncut grass and old age homes such as Reuven, where the grass is shockingly long, added to this by saying: “I have taken the matter up with housing, which advised me that they need to get City Parks to address it as they do not have equipment. I phoned City Parks, they said they need instruction from Housing, because of inter-departmental money transfers and so forth…I am now taking it up with our SMMC of housing.”
