Busted with house full of hijacked cigarettes

These men, caught in Soweto, rented a house in The Hills to hide stolen cigarettes.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Warrant Officer Kgomo from the Gauteng Task Team and members of the Flying Squad raided a The Hills house that was full of hijacked cigarettes on Friday January 30.

The cigarettes were on a truck hijacked in Turffontein, and the officers were following leads until they came across video footage of the actual hijacking. A tip-off indicated that the suspects were hanging around in Soweto.

The officer acted quickly and arrested two suspects in a Soweto bar, just after one of their friends escaped and accidentally dropped what was found to be a state-owned firearm.

The suspects then revealed that the hijacked cigarettes were hid in a house in Southern Klipriviersburg, The Hill, where the other two suspects were raided and arrested.

Moffatview SAPS Warrant and Communications Officer, Contable Bila is pleading with the community not to allow people to rent their houses for the purpose of committing crime.
