JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – PR Councillor Tyrell Meyers visited the old age homes of Reuven in West Turffontein and the Glenesk next to Pioneer Park on Valentine’s Day, where residents were spoilt with heart-shaped chocolates.

PR Councillor Meyers wanted to remind the valued senior citizens that they are still loved even on this special day.

“Many were thankful for the delightful sweets, and one lady cried, saying it is the thought that counts and it made her feel so happy to be remembered on this day by the Councillor, it’s wonderful some people still care for us,” a resident said.

“I would like to formally thank the sponsors, Angels Confectionary in Alberton, for the chocolates, which were donated, as well as the Johannesburg Muslim Charitable Organisation for their donation to the Glenesk homes,” mentioned PR Councillor Meyers.

He is also deeply concerned about the poor maintenance of the old age home under the ANC rule in the ward. Long grass both inside and out poses a serious danger to the elderly tenants of these housing units. It is unacceptable that residents must endure this kind of poor service delivery.

“This I will take up with our Shadow member of the mayoral committee in housing,” he said.
