Tears for ANC spokesperson

Hundreds of ANC supporters said goodbye to ANC's Dumisa Ntuli, who died in a car accident.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Hundreds of ANC supporters attended the funeral of the Gauteng ANC spokesperson, Dumisa Ntuli (47), to pay their last respects on Valentine’s Day.

Ntuli died in a car accident on Sunday February 8 and is survived by his wife, Moleboheng, children, sisters and a brother.

Ntuli participated in and led the struggle for freedom and democracy from his youth days until he passed on. Those who knew him said he will always be remembered as a humble and dedicated cadre, who selflessly served his people and his movement to the end.

He was laid to rest at the Thomas Thobi’s heroes arch in the East Rand following a funeral service programme, held at the Thokoza Auditorium to honour and celebrate his memory, contribution and a life he lived to the fullest.

Dumisa Paulos Ntuli was born in July 1997 in Thokoza, Alberton. He was one of the four boys and the sixth child of Mr.Shadisa James Ntuli and Mrs. Jeanette Ntuli.

He and the youth activist of his generation were introduced to politics in 1982 under the watchful eyes of the leadership comrades such as Sam Ntuli, Enoch Gondongwana and many more.

ANC Gauteng chairperson Paul Mashatile described Ntuli as a revolutionary and “a committed cadre of our movement”.

“I am personally devastated by the news of cadre Dumisa’s passing as I had the privilege to work with him over several years. As I stand here this morning, I am still struggling with his sudden and tragic departure as he was a versatile and dedicated cadre who will go out of his way to get things done.”

ANC national executive committee member Enoch Godongwana said Ntuli’s closest ties with the masses reflected the character of a good leader that he was.

“He leaves a record of struggle which will be surpassed by the few in the country,” said Godongwana.
