My neighbour, Norman, 62, is a man who is mentally disturbed and does strange things.

Lately he has been collecting rubbish from the rubbish bins around. His flat is literally full of it, not even place for a bed anymore. As he does not pay his rent, he has no electricity and uses candles. I live in the flat above his. I am 78. On Saturday December 6 at 05:00, I was awaken by a strong smell of smoke. I quickly went down to see what was going on, some other neighbours were already there.

Norman had used a candle at this time of the night and it had fallen on the stuff he keeps. It was burning, flames all over. Finally we managed to extinguish the fire with a watering pipe and Norman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. But now we have to live with the smell and have to keep the windows closed, in this heat.

God knows who, when and by whom the flat will be cleaned. With the mess in the flat all wet, there are already rats running around. Maybe it does not seem like a big story, but I tell you it really terrifying. That is why we think it would be good for you to tell your readers how we have to live in our old age. Maybe someone who reads the story will be able to come to our aid. The flat in question is No 258.

Thank you in advance. I hope you will be able to do something for us.
