After a very successful and well attended community meeting, the interim committee would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in the discussions of environmental issues such as illegal dumping, snakes and the security workshop held early November.

As part of the way forward and resolutions, it was agreed that a follow-up meeting and an environmental and cleaning campaign will be convened to finalise and adopt the security proposal as presented to the community, and a schedule and appropriate date for the environment education, awareness and cleaning campaign.

As the community we are accountable and responsible to ensuring that our area is environmentally safe and clean for us and our kids.

“Remember, cleanliness is next to Godliness,” said Mr Smith Kelomo from Pickitup.

Ward Councillor Solly Mogase also expressed his appreciation that the community took an initiative in ensuring that they as members of the community were educated on how to keep and stay in an environmentally safe area, and assured the community of his support.

It is important that as the community we keep our eyes and ears open and be alert to any criminal activities happening in our area as we the eyes and ears of both the SAPS and the City of Joburg (Pikitup and JMPD), as well as keeping an eye on each other as neighbours.

The community is therefore requested to once again join the Interim Committee in collaboration with Pikitup (Pty) Ltd, a waste management utility of the City of Johannesburg, and other entities on Saturday December 6 at 08:30 as we put on our gloves and embark on a cleaning campaign to deal with illegal dumping once and for all.
