Man stabbed and killed in South Hills

The victim allegedly tried to stab the suspect during a fight

MOFFATVIEW police reported that a 31-year-old man died after fighting with a young man in a battle that involved knives on Friday October 25.

The deceased allegedly tried to stab the suspect first, but the suspect ran away and came back with his own knife and stabbed the deceased once. He died on the scene.

Contable Billa of the Moffatview police reported that the suspect was arrested by Moffatview officers.

DA councillor Faeeza Chame reported that the murder happened on Outspan Road, where the body remained till late.

“I wish to send my condolences to the family of the deceased, sadly he leaves behind an eight-year-old boy. As the council we discourage such behavior among young people and we encourage them to live in harmony and unity. I waited there until the body was removed around 17:00 and wish to thank the SAPS, who did an amazing job.

“The council and SAPS will put together measures for incidents like these not to happen again as we are nearing the festive season,” said Cllr Chame.
