Johannesburg South children’s charities receive special visit

The Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation (NCCF) manages the company’s corporate social responsibility projects and has been doing so since its inception in 2006.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The Nashua Children’s Charity (NCCF) will be visiting five of its charities situated in Johannesburg South on August 23 to deliver some warmth and love to the more than 400 children and chat to the caregivers while assessing their future needs.

“We try to promote the idea of sustainable living with our charities so that the children in their care are provided for in a meaningful way. We don’t just hand over a cheque and expect the charities to fend for themselves,” said NCCF director, Helen Fraser.

Assisting 58 charities across the country, the NCCF has helped with furniture, educational materials, PCs, groceries, outings for the children and even repairs to buildings. The organisation also assists approximately 12,000 children with 360,000 meals every month that include two meals a day and a school lunch pack per child.

“It is always very special for us as we are warmly received by the children with welcomes and hugs. We try to visit all the charities we provide aid to as often as possible to find out how else the NCCF can help the children in their care,” said Fraser.

The team, traveling in a vehicle courtesy of AVIS Fleet Services, will dispense a little sweet treat to the children before chatting to the caregivers about their needs, any changes, and to ensure that they are operating within the initial framework of support. A truck sponsored by Bayley Worldwide Removals will follow them from charity to charity and distribute 800 blankets thanks to Ellies and Warm the World.

Hugh’s Haven, Lerato Educational Centre, Villa of Hope, M.C. Kharbai School and Thato Ke Matla will be visited by the team and additional charities in Johannesburg West will be targeted later in the day as the NCCF drops in at nine charities in total.
