Woman killed after hit and run accident
A 73-year-old woman was killed on Tuesday evening at 18:05 after a BMW hit her as the car was being driven down Plinlimmon Road, The Hill.
THE HILL – The victim’s niece, Marlane Bystydzienski, and a local estate agent were going to show the woman a unit in Linmeyer Gardens, when the accident occurred.
“We had just stepped into the road when the estate agent pulled me by the arm and the BMW hit my aunt,” said a traumatised Marlane. The victim’s body was hit at such a force she landed up far from where the BMW hit her.
Netcare 911 attended the scene, which was cordoned off. The victim’s body was taken to Hillbrow mortuary for an autopsy.
“Cars race down here all the time and we have been asking for speed humps for years,” said a woman who lives on Plinlimmon Road. “It’s always the case, when someone has been killed then something mayget done. It’s too late now for this poor woman.”
According to information from witnesses at the scene, the driver of the BMW was arrested.

I SPOKE TO DENNIS JANE LAST WEEK ABOUT ALL THE TREES IN PLINLIMMON ROAD SHOULD BE CUT RIGHT DOWN AS THEY ARE OVERGROWN AND IT IS VERY DARK AT NIGHT.THE TREES COVER ALL THE STREET LIGHTS, & IF THE STREET LIGHTS ARE NOT ON IT IS WORSE.

This lady was my Gran. May she rest in peace. Leah Barbosa my cousin, such a beautiful young lady. Our vava will be dearly missed. She was taken away from us in a very tragic manner and it is extremely hard for our family to get through this horrible, horrible time. Its not fair for her loved ones left behind to go through this. I wouldn’t wish this feeling on anyone. Please drive carefully and get speed humps in that road.

Trees are not at fault here. A youngster was speeding, without a drivers license.Speed bumps would solve a lot of future problems. My husband is heart broken.We have lost three parents/my children’s grandparents in 4 months. Thank you for caring Southern Courier.
