JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – City Deep security guards arrested two men after beating them during a gunfight started by one of the suspects, after he was spotted as a potential robber.
Security officers called for backup when the suspect started shooting at them, and the suspect was later shot to the ground by one of the security guards.
Another suspect was arrested at City Deep Market, when a security officer recalled spotting a suspicious man before he was called for backup. The officers caught him and asked him if he knew the other suspect who was shot, and he denied it.
One of the security guards took the suspect’s phone and redialed the last dialed number, which rang on the cellphone of the man who was shot, confirming that they were working together.
Moffatview SAPS arrested the suspects and took them to the police station, where they were charged with attempted murder for shooting at security officers.
