Tiana finishes second overall

In March this year, just over 1 200 diploma winners out of the original 10 000 entries received in September last year, competed in the prestigious NEA (National Eisteddfod Academy) competition.

MARIST BROTHERS LINMEYER – At these first rounds the elimination process began and Tiana de Oliveira, a Grade 11 pupil at Marist Brothers Linmeyer, had an amazing time performing Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ on drums. She performed her way through to the quarter and semi-finals at the Pro Musica Theatre in Roodepoort.

Adjudicators and audiences alike were hugely impressed with all 21 talented contestants that made it to the final event at the Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria on May 17.At the end of a very exciting and entertainment packed evening, Tiana finished second overall!

Tiana wishes to thank her very dedicated drumming teacher and mentor, Graca Texeira, for all her support backstage and throughout the entire competition.

Well done Tiana, your teachers, family and school are extremely proud of you!
