Water flows weakly in Bassonia

Various complexes in Soetdoring Avenue, Bassonia are struggling with no water as a result of water pressure in the area.

VARIOUS complexes in Soetdoring Avenue, Bassonia are struggling with no water as a result of water pressure in the area.

“We first noticed a problem with the water on June 4. The pressure reduces drastically daily from 06:00, often with no water whatsoever, and seems to improve by 16:00, although even then the pressure is not great, certainly not what would be expected,” said residents from the Martinique Complex in Soetdoring Avenue.

Many of the residents have called the JoBurg Connect over this two week period to either query low pressure or no water at all. “The only response we get, is that the problem is being investigated. We did manage to get a contact for the person who is apparently in charge of the water in the South of Johannesburg.” Apparently he is from Southgate Depot and was on leave at that period. They found somebody who will help in his absence. “He said that the problem is being investigated.”

In the meantime Joburg Water has been out to investigate the problem.

“The problem, whatever that may be, has still not been resolved. We are not the only complex in Soetdoring Avenue or Bassonia experiencing the problem, as JoBurg Connect have advised that they have logged calls from Villa Capri,” said the upset residents at Martinique Complex in Soetdoring Avenue.

Cllr Paul Smit’s response to the matter is: “I spoke to Mark Kruger again today (Tuesday June 24). The logger they placed on the line was suffering from software problems, so the process had to be started all over again.

“Mark has informed me that he will be out at the water line in question tomorrow (Wednesday June 25) as a follow-up on where to go from here.”

Paul Smith will be updating this matter on a daily basis.
