South Hills water pipes burst frequently

The water pipes are old and keep bursting from one traffic light to another.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – South Hills water pipes continue to burst from one traffic light to another at Southern Klipriviersberg Road, causing people to live without water and creating slow traffic on the road.

In the previous issue of the COURIER, a story was reported about gallons of water being wasted in South Hills, where a water pipe had burst.

Moreover, just a month ago, another pipe had burst at the same Southern Klipriviersberg Road, the same road where the current water pipe burst.

The current water interruption is a result of an unexpected burst pipe at the corner of Southern Klipriviersberg and Outspan roads.

A concerned resident who was communicating with the technicians from the City of Johannesburg said: “These pipes are old. Probably over a hundred years. When you fix one section, another section bursts.”

The COURIER still investigates.

  1. The municipality of the area should see to it that all the pipes in the area are attended to or rather looked at, I doubt that all pipes in the area are new, they don’t bother checking they only react after something happens, why not prevent it from happening by checking if the pipes need be updated or changed.
