The Bag Lady

Another gorgeous week and time spent with family and friends as holidays just carried on and on! And Wednesday May 7 is voting day, so another day off.

Spoil your mom

Yes, it’s that special day on Sunday May 11, a day when you can all spoil your mom’s. I’ve been browsing the shops and looking at what I would like to receive and quite frankly there’s just so much out there and lots of gifts which you could purchase for under R100, even R50 for that matter. After all, it is the thought which counts and not how much you spend on a gift.

Wear it well – At this time of the year when we are just going into another season, there is just so much to choose from. In the range of R100 or under, you can buy slippers, woolly gloves, snoods, scarves, socks and stockings. If you would like to spend a little more, a warm jersey, a winter vest, a stunning blouse or pj’s will be greatly received.

Pampering time – I always love receiving pampering products, which I wouldn’t normally buy for myself. Body creams and lotions, hand creams, bath milk, body wash, hand wash, moisturising bath oil, or how about a nail varnish, lip gloss, mascara, blusher or eye shadow – honestly there’s just so much. Want to spend more? Perfume is always a beautiful gift.

Green fingers -If you’re mom enjoys gardening, visit a local garden centre and choose a lovely plant or a shrub. Hanging baskets also make a beautiful gift. Make up a box with gardening accessories, which could include, a packet of flower seeds, gardening gloves, a beautiful hand cream and a gardening magazine (Garden & Home).

Visit your local garden centre and see what a lovely gift you can purchase.

Sweet treats – For the mom who loves indulging in chocolates and sweet things, there’s an array of delicious things to choose from. Or be creative and make your own biscuits and a cake, wrap in cellophane and tie with a ribbon.

Book lovers – Books always make a delightful gift. If you know one she particularly would like to read, then that’s perfect. Otherwise choose a book gift voucher and maybe add a book mark to go with it.

Good luck with your shopping and enjoy the day with your mom and loved ones.

Bouquet of the Week

A huge bouquet to Mr Fernando, manager of Kenilworth Spar and the people in Spar car park who assisted a disabled woman last week. “I went shopping to Spar and as I exited my car the car keys fell back into the vehicle and the door was shut and locked. Mr Fernando and a few people in the car park tried their very best to get my car door open and eventually after great effort it was open. We always think so negatively about people but I want to say my sincere thanks to all of them for assisting me. I really appreciate your help and kindness,” said Pam.

Next week another Focus on Local. That’s it for this week, shop till you drop.
