Charitable donation brings ‘pawsitive’ impact to Animal Anti-Cruelty League

This generous contribution will play a vital role in ensuring that every furry resident receives the nutrition they need while awaiting their forever homes.

What could be better than an animal welfare organisation receiving a surprise delivery of dog food worth R100 000?

Well, how about four donations valued at over R100 000 each? The pet-friendly windfall, worth just over R400 000 in total, is thanks to a decision by leading national retailer Absolute Pets to acknowledge and support four organisations’ welfare work in their communities.

Cape Town organisations Dead Animals Walking and Mdzananda, and Gauteng organisations AACL Johannesburg and New Hope Animal Rescue were informed of the mega-donation.

“Animals and their welfare is at the core of everything we do as a business. With 175 stores nationwide, Absolute Pets has a strong connection with local animal welfare communities across the country and supporting the work they do is a major focus for us,” said Absolute Pets marketing manager Genevieve Adams.

With many South Africans struggling financially it’s become a greater challenge than ever to put food on the table for the furry friends who have no homes.

The care and comfort of countless furry friends is assured.

Animal Anti-Cruelty League’s Carren Nickloes shared: “The generous donation of pet food from Absolute Pets is a game-changer for us, allowing us to provide vital nourishment to hundreds of animals under our care.

“This support not only addresses their immediate nutritional needs but also significantly enhances their overall well-being. Each meal represents not just sustenance, but also a commitment to the welfare of these animals, many of whom have faced challenges and uncertainty.

“We are profoundly grateful to Absolute Pets for their ongoing partnership and unwavering support. Their contributions make a tangible difference in the lives of animals, enabling us to focus on their protection, health and wellbeing. This collaboration exemplifies how community support can create a ripple effect of positive change, and we look forward to continuing this vital work together.”

While Absolute Pets has donated over R1m in food and products to date, the dog-food bonanza donation was the biggest once-off drop ever done. Seeing the smiles on the faces of those working with the animals as well as the excited wagging of tails that followed, has made it all worth it.
