Dos Santos was a ward councillor in Joburg south.

The DA Jhb south constituency welcomes Sergio dos Santos as its newly appointed political head.

Dos Santos, an MPL and currently serving as the DA’s Shadow MEC for Education in Gauteng, has a strong connection with the south of Johannesburg.

A resident of Suideroord, Dos Santos served as the ward councillor for Ward 54 in Johannesburg from 2011 to 2019 when he stepped down from this role following his election as an MPL during the 2019 National and Provincial Elections (NPE).

He was re-elected as an MPL at the 2024 NPE.

Dos Santos is also a former chairperson of the City’s Governance Section 79 Committee and was formerly the constituency co-ordinator and deputy chair of the DA Jhb south constituency.

DA Jhb south constituency chairperson Michael Crichton said, “I welcome Sergio to our constituency and look forward to working with him. I also thank Manny de Freitas for his combined 20 years of service as the DA Jhb south political head until his departure in February and Clr Tyrell Meyers for acting as the political head from February to August.

“I trust we will now continue to go from strength to strength as we build towards the 2026 local government elections.”
