Alberton Wrestling Club start the year with a bang

Alberton Wrestling Club brought home 33 medals after their wrestlers participated in the Ekurhuleni Open Tournament.

Alberton Wrestling Club took part in the Ekurhuleni Open Tournament held at the Menlo Park Wrestling Hall in Pretoria.

This was the first tournament for the year and Alberton Wrestling Club brought home 33 medals on the day.

“All the wrestlers competed brilliantly and obtained medals in their categories,” said Lizelle Fourie from the club.
The club expressed gratitude to the supporting coaches, Richard Addinall, Brian Watson, and Adriaan Havenga, for playing a crucial role in making sure that the wrestlers were ready for the tournament.

Referees were Albert van der Walt, Alicia Havenga, Chantené Fourie, and Katrien Havenga.

According to Lizelle, approximately 550 wrestlers entered the tournament from across Gauteng, Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West.

The Ekurhuleni Open Tournament is an AA Tournament that is used as a qualifying tournament for provincial colours in many provinces.
