Rea hosts back-to-school drink event at Starbucks Bassonia

Reamoleboha Monethi's back-to-school kids' event at Starbucks Bassonia was a thoughtful and inclusive initiative aimed at bringing children together to have fun, make new friends, and play a part in creating something special for the Starbucks menu. It also promoted the importance of reading and sharing books.

Reamoleboha Monethi, the founder of RBookHire – Kids Bookclub and a learner at Trinityhouse Glenvista, organised a back-to-school kids’ drink event at Starbucks Bassonia on February 3.

The event was inspired by her love for going back to school and wanting to make it special for kids with a fun and yummy drink event at Starbucks.

Reamoleboha said she chose Starbucks Bassonia due to the cosy atmosphere and delicious drinks, aiming to create a special drink for kids at a place where families can come together.

“The event’s drink selection process was designed to be simple and fun, with all the kids given red and yellow cards to vote for their favourite drink. This colourful voting game allowed everyone to have a say in selecting the best drink for the Starbucks menu.

“The event was inclusive for children from different schools, aiming to create a happy gathering where children from various schools could make new friends and have a great time together,” said Reamoleboha.

“The event also included activities such as playing games and engaging in creative tasks to foster interaction and friendships among the participating children,” added Reamoleboha.

Reamoleboha envisioned children playing a pivotal role in deciding the next addition to the Starbucks menu, hoping that this would show kids that their opinions matter and that they can achieve significant things.

“The event aimed to promote teamwork and collaboration among the young participants by involving them in decision-making, sharing ideas, and having fun together.

“In addition, the event served as an opportunity to encourage kids to read more and to join RBookHire by collecting pre-loved books for all learners to have the privilege to read,” said Reamoleboha.

The event was well-received, with the Starbucks Bassonia manager Brenda Sibanda describing it as a fun and engaging occasion where many children participated.
