Matriculating A Visually Impaired Child Programmeachieves remarkable success

Johannesburg Society For The Blind celebrates triumph of Matriculating Visually Impaired Child Programme.

The Johannesburg Society for the Blind (JSB) is proud to announce the success of its Matriculating A Visually Impaired Child Programme, which is a result of the collaborative efforts of stakeholders and the dedicated team on the ground.

JSB emphasizes the importance of Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) in their mission, which provides essential literacy and numeracy skills to adults. Those who complete Level 4 in the programme can proceed to complete their adult matric or the Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), which is equivalent to Grade Nine (or NQF Level 1).

Nkosana Kubheka, chief operation officer at the Johannesburg Society For The Blind, expressed his pride in the programme’s accomplishments.

“The programme, aimed at empowering young individuals with disabilities, has exceeded expectations as all seven Level 4 students have successfully advanced to matric. Notably, one of our learners has achieved a distinction, showcasing the outstanding capabilities of our participants.

“The success of the programme is a direct result of the commitment and support from sponsors. Their belief in the potential of these students has not only made the programme possible but has also paved the way for these learners to overcome challenges and achieve academic excellence.

“We are delighted to witness the achievements of our Level 4 students in our Matriculating A Visually Impaired Child Programme. The success of all seven learners, with one achieving a distinction, highlights the impact of inclusive and empowering education,” stated Kubheka.

Reflecting on this success, top achiever Thabile Matlala expressed her gratitude, saying: “Completing Level 4 is such a great achievement. I am grateful for the opportunity to further my studies as someone living with a disability. I cannot wait to conquer matric. Thank you so much to all the facilitators in the training academy for their patience and for helping us achieve our goal.”

Samkelo Rapopo expressed pride in his accomplishments. “I am very proud of myself and the work I have done thus far. I cannot wait to fully complete my matric and conquer the world of further education and training,” said Rapopo.

The programme focuses on providing opportunities and support to young individuals with disabilities, creating a pathway to academic success and personal growth. The dedication and hard work of the learners, coupled with the support of stakeholders and the training academy staff, has resulted in a significant milestone for the programme.

The Johannesburg Society For The Blind expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including JSB staff members, for their continued support.
