Suspects arrested for possession of hijacked truck and stolen goods in Mondeor

All suspects were detained at the Mondeor SAPS and will be charged with possession of stolen property.

Mondeor SAPS officers found a truck on Columbine Avenue, Mondeor, loaded with packages of Disprin valued at R150 000 on March 6.

The spokesperson for the station, Captain Lunga Dube, said on arrival, members stopped a Volvo 14-ton truck and requested the driver open the back of it.

“The truck was loaded with Disprin packages. When the driver was questioned, it was learnt that the truck was loaded at Eikenhof.

“Members followed up on the information at Eikenhof and discovered 18 foreign nationals who loaded the truck with these packages stolen from a trailer in Germiston. The foreign nationals were also in possession of boxes of Disprin. All of the suspects were apprehended by the Mondeor SAPS and will be charged with possession of stolen property,” said Dube.

Dube said the suspects will soon appear in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court.
