Renowned make-up artist found dead in her home at Bassonia Estate

Many people think that she committed suicide by shooting herself in the head and the public demands an investigation.

Business tycoon Maja Janeska, a well-known celebrity and influencer, was discovered dead on December 2 at her home in Bassonia Estate.

The 39-year-old woman who passed away from a head wound caused by a gunshot ‘reportedly occasionally feared for her life’ according to a News24 report.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, an inquest docket has been opened and investigations are ongoing.

Masondo received a call about a woman who allegedly committed suicide at the estate.

“When police arrived at the address, they discovered a woman in the bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head. There was a gun next to her. The paramedics declared the woman dead,” said Masondo.

The publication reported that the unexpected death of the popular North Macedonian Instagram influencer, whose 1.2 million followers included Malema and celebrities such as Boity, Pearl Thusi and Tamara Dey, had left her family in Europe and friends in South Africa in shock.

A relative, who requested to remain anonymous, said that they were unable to travel to South Africa due to visa issues, the report said.

“Our phones haven’t stopped ringing; this is all new to us. We are in Europe and our hands are tied because we can’t come to South Africa because of visa issues. [Janeska] is lying there in some mortuary and we don’t have any clue what is actually happening,” the relative was reported saying.
