Regents Park gas leak finally fixed

Residents of Regents Park were relieved on Friday to see that the gas leak which had a harmful impact on the community had finally been fixed.

After weeks of suffering from blurry vision, stomach cramps, headaches and other health problems from the gas leak, the residents of Regents Park are now in rejoice.

This comes after the community, especially on Rosetta Street, has been battling leaking gas fumes since March 17.

According to one of the residents, Patricia O’Neil, people from Initec Civils came to dig with the purpose to install fibre. However, while digging they might have hit one of the gas pipes.

On May 13, the Egoli gas team went on-site to check the leak.

David Radebe from Initec Civils said the team detected that the pipe was not leaking from the exposed part, it is leaking under the tar. They cut and blocked the pipe.

“The gas pipe is now permanently fixed. “
