Collision leaves pregnant woman and six others injured

The seven injured people were treated on scene with those in need of further care being moved to hospital.

Seven people were injured in a collision between a minibus taxi and a light motor vehicle at the intersection of Bellairs Drive and Comaro Street on February 25.

“ER24 and other services arrived at 08:15 to find the taxi and light motor vehicle on the side of the road,” said Russel Meiring, communications officer for ER24.

“A woman was found seated inside the car while several others were sitting outside the taxi. Medics assessed the patients and found that the woman was 21-weeks pregnant and was in critical condition.

“A man near the taxi was also in critical condition, while five others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.”

The patients were treated on scene, with the critically injured receiving advanced life support before being transported to the hospital for further care. Authorities will investigate the cause of the collision further.
