Pillay’s case postponed

Pillay's case has been postponed several times.

Deon Pillay’s case was postponed on July 8 at Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

He must appear in court on August 5.

The State is supposed to hear the presentation from his defence team on the day.

He was initially accused of theft, fraud and contravening of the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act. The State has reduced the charges to theft only.

Pillay was granted R50 000 bail on August 15, 2020.

According to Lucky Sindane, the spokesperson of the City’s Group Forensic and Investigation Services, in 2014 the City of Johannesburg procured 570 desktops from Pillay’s company, and he failed to deliver them although he was paid R8.5-million.
