Deon Pillay’s case postponed

The Deon Pillay case has been postponed seven times.

The case against businessman Deon Pillay has been postponed to June 3 at Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
The State will be hearing his presentation from his defence team on the day.

He was initially accused of theft, fraud, and contravening of the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act. The State has reduced the charges to theft only.

Pillay was granted R50 000 bail on August 15, 2020.

According to Lucky Sindane, the spokesperson of the City’s Group Forensic and Investigation Services, in 2014 the City of Johannesburg procured 570 desktops from Pillay’s company and he failed to deliver them, although he was paid R8.5-million.
