Suspect arrested for tampering with infrastructure

The stolen palisade was removed around a cellphone tower.

On January 4 the complainant was driving along Pat Mbatha Road in Nasrec when he saw two unknown males coming out of Crown Station carrying about 13 pieces of stolen palisade fence.

The complainant stopped and introduced himself as a City official. Then one suspect dropped the palisade fence and ran away. The complainant managed to arrest one suspect.

The docket was given to Sgt Edmond Rangwanasha to investigate and obtain all the relevant information for the docket.

On February 3 the suspect was found guilty and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, of which three months are suspended for five years with the choice of acknowledgement of guilt or bail of R1 000.

Booysens SAPS communications officer Capt Lorraine van Emmerik said the management would like to thank the members who made the arrests and Rangwanasha for obtaining the conviction.
