Steeledale community hand out pamphlets in campaign against GBV

"According to the stats, women in this country are being killed almost every 3 hours"

Moffat View Social Crime Prevention, together with SANCA, Youth Crime Prevention Desk, Khulisa Social Solutions and the Department of Community Safety conducted an awareness campaign at Steeldale Shopping Centre on October 30.

The campaign focused on gender-based violence (GBV) and 300 pamphlets were distributed to community members.

Members of the community said women don’t report abuse at all times.

Sgt Desiree Nose from Moffat View SAPS said the campaign was held to encourage community members to break the silence on GBV and domestic violence.

“We are here today to show support and tell them that it is okay to speak out. I am also thankful that organisations are also here to show support and helping in handing out pamphlets about gender-based violence,” she said.
