Smiling children start first day of school

It was an exciting morning on Wednesday January 15 when the South saw new grade one learners beginning their school careers.

SOUTH: First day at school for grade one learners brought big smiles as little ones walked into their classrooms to begin day one of their school career.
At Townsview Primary School everything went like clockwork as parents said goodbye to their children. “Late last year we held our grade one welcoming party, so today parents know exactly where to take their children and they quickly settle and feel confident,” said principal, Lyn Esterhuizen.
Mulbarton Remedial School welcomed their grade one learners and once again it was all smiles! “Gone are the days when children arrived for their first day at ‘big’ school and were tearful. Most children have already been to crèche or playschool and then on to grade 00, so grade one doesn’t hold the same fear anymore. It’s wonderful to see so many happy smiling faces,” said principal, Pat van In.
At Mulbarton Primary School the grade one learners were already sat in their classrooms when the CHRONICLE arrived. All ready to begin, one of the class of children were sat on the carpet, quietly listening to their teachers explaining what ‘big’ school holds for them.
