Jerry remembers Madiba
Jerry, now 77 years old, said this is the only photo he has of Madiba and he will cherish it for years to come.
WEST TURFFONTEIN – Jerry Theys has been a resident of Reuven Complex for some time now and he too is saddened by the passing of his icon Nqolomsila, Velabembensele, Mandela.
This sad moment took him about 20 years back when he took a photo of Dr Nelson Mandela, Dr Allan Boesak and himself in Boksburg. “The photo was taken at a function after a meeting at the Reiger Park Community hall in Boksburg, organised by the Free Boksburg Committee. Madiba was the guest speaker; he was also bestowed with the Freedom of Boksburg by the communities of Reiger Park and Vosloorus,” explained Jerry.
