Five alleged drug dealers arrested over the festive season

Between December 24 and 26, at least five alleged drug dealers, including a woman, were stopped and body searched and narcotics were uncovered. The offenders were detained at Reiger Park, Kempton Park, Boksburg, Eden Park and Tokoza police stations.

On December 26, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit visited a house unannounced in Eden Park area, on Ladonga Street, where a 64-year-old man was arrested.

He was found with a digital scale, 40 ziplocks of khat, a plate full of paraphernalia valued at R4 000 and R70 in cash. At 10.30pm, a 26-year-old man from Tokoza found with 33 ziplocks and one loose plastic containing over 700 grams of dagga valued at R1 500 and R200 in cash was also detained.

Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, said: “The crime-prevention operation still continues. All arrested suspects are faced with charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances. They are expected to appear in the Boksburg, Kempton Park and Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.”
