JOHANNESBURG Central Cluster stations made a total of 56 arrests during their crime combating operation which was conducted from March 22 to March 24.
Suspects were arrested in Mondeor, Booysens, Moffat View, Langlaagte, Fairlands, Sophiatown, Brixton and Johannesburg central area.
Arrests made were for the following crimes: one – kidnapping, two – armed robbery, one – business break-in, three – common robbery, one – cable theft, two – hijacking, six – domestic violence, 11 – possession of drugs, seven – driving under the influence.
Other suspects were arrested for committing crimes including fraud, assault common, theft, dealing in liquor without a licence, assault GBH, shoplifting, dealing in drugs, intimidation and house break-in.
Most of the suspects around the Johannesburg area appeared in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on March 25.
