Gunners overcome Lawley Super Stars in the local derby

A NAIL-BITING encounter between two Lawley giants Gunners FC and Lawley Super Stars (LSS) left spectators excited at Greenhouse grounds in Lawley 2 on March 24.
Gunners hammered LSS with 3-1 with goals by Lucky ‘Nation’ Baloyi (2) and Nhlanhla ‘Wi-fi’ Mlambo (1).
LSS dominated the game in the first few minutes but as the game gained momentum Gunners started bossing things around as they threw in diagonal balls which troubled LSS’s defence.
As LSS were at their sixes and sevens, Gunners capitalised on that as the ever hardworking Baloyi opened the scoreboard.
LSS came out of their comfort zone in search of an equaliser but couldn’t convert their chances.
The match went into the interval Gunners leading.
The second half of the match was full of action as both teams gave it their all on the field.
LSS made few changes to put the ball in the back of the net but with all men forward for an equaliser, they were left vulnerable at the back as Gunners doubled their lead through Mlambo.
A few minutes later Baloyi put the final nail in the coffin when he scored the third goal to put the game beyond reach for LSS.
Gondi Motaung scored a consolation goal for LSS.
Gunners kept on pushing men forward to restore their three-goal lead but couldn’t convert their chances in the closing stages of the game.
