From the guy selling hangers at the robots, to the well-known South African comedian, South Africa is home to many individuals who inspire and encourage others to keep walking against all the odds and tell their story.

Johnny Walker recently launched their #KeepWalking campaign, staying with the theme of encouraging South Africans to tell their stories. The event took place at the Saxon Boutique Hotel where the achievements and progress made by many South Africans were celebrated.

Nelson Makamo

One of these extraordinary individuals is Nelson Makamo. An artist of note, Makamo recently featured in Time magazine for his artwork.

Also celebrated at the #KeepWalking campaign was Refilwe Ledwaba, a young influential woman in the aviation industry.

Ze Nxumalo can be counted amongst visionaries within the entrepreneurial space. He started his career in 2014 through his first investment, purchasing vehicles and then converting them into Uber cars. He is extremely passionate about helping young entrepreneurs play a role in the economy of South Africa. His passion lead to him starting ZIG Holdings in 2014, a youth investment holding company.

Thebe Magugu has grown as a contemporary South African fashion brand, primarily operating within the field of women’s ready-to-wear while having a firm foot in accessories and small multidisciplinary projects.

Motheo Moeng, an outernational cinematographer and also the SAFTAs 12 Golden Horn winner for Best Achievement in Cinematography for TV Drama – Tjovitjo,  Motheo, who is also the cinematographer for “Catching Feelings” and the recently released “Matwetwe”, was among those honoured on the night for work he has put in telling South African stories.

The campaign also features the likes of Enhle Mali Maphumulo, Trevor Noah and Olympic champion Chad Le Clos and encourages South Africans to tell their story.
