Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg’s waste management entity, would like to advise Joburg residents and business owners that refuse will be collected on all public holidays except on Christmas Day, December 25. There will not be refuse collection on Christmas Day.
Residents whose scheduled waste collection day falls on Christmas Day are advised to keep their refuse bins inside their properties and place them outside on Tuesday, 1 January 2019, for collection.
Pikitup schedule below:
- 17 December (Monday) only in scheduled areas
- 25 December (Tuesday) NO COLLECTION
- 26 December (Wednesday) only in scheduled areas
- 1 January (Tuesday) only in scheduled areas
Pikitup is also appealing to residents to refrain from giving its employees Christmas gifts. Employees of the City of Johannesburg’s waste management entity are barred from asking for gifts from residents.
Pikitup discourages residents from giving employees gifts because criminals also use this to their advantage.
If you will be going out for the day rather ask a neighbour to take out your bin and put it back.
Please do not dump, litter in open areas or anywhere.
