Southerners to compete in final boxing tournament

Repeat or Revenge will take place on December 8 at Emperors Palace.

IT’S always going to be a tough call for the pugilists to choose between Tommy Oosthuizen and Thabiso Mchunu to predict the winner for the cruiserweight contest this coming Saturday.

The final boxing tournament, Repeat or Revenge, for on the calendar for Golden Gloves Promotions (GGP)/AfricanRing will take place on December 8 at Emperors Palace. Boxing will start at 8pm and doors will open at 7pm.

The much-anticipated rematch for the African Boxing Union (ABU) Cruiserweight belt between Oosthuizen, who walked away with the laurels a few months ago, and Mchunu will highlight a boxing year in which spectators have been entertained by GGP’s close contests that they have put forward for the boxing fraternity.

The different styles these two top South African boxers bring to the ring make it even more difficult to predict a winner for the evening. As in the first fight between them where Oosthuizen was victorious, it could just as well be Mchunu’s night. And as everyone knows, it just takes one punch and the fight is won.

The bill also includes International Boxing Organisation (IBO) welterweight champion Thulani Mbenge’s toughest test to date against Miguel Vasquez for the belt.
